Rome

I had planned to spend some days in Rome hence a fortnight ago I packed my things .
I  don't like to carry big suitcases and so ...don't expect to see me wearing special clothes!

The bridge

I chose  one of  my white bags

a long dark skirt and a Linen t-shirt with flats
( I packed  long skirts because they don't require tights and flats because they are the best shoes with very long skirts ).

August's temple

I went through the wonderful city

Trevi fountain

In which I used to go  often many years ago.
There, I have been living the love story with the man who is my husband now .

Bernini's fountain ( la barcaccia)

The journey brought to mind a lot of happy memories....

Pantheon

And I have been walking for many hours a day !
( as you can see too many for my small dog)

Rome is a fantastic city and not only for its beauty. There is something so special in it!
When you are really tired  there is a magic place where to have some rest : Trinita' Dei Monti

and we three were sooooo tired!

  1. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos Dan. Rome is a place that I haven't been to. I think you was right to wear flat shoes, looks like you covered a lot of ground.

  2. Looks & sounds like a wonderful trip! Visiting Rome has been on my travel list for a long time...

I love your travel outfit! Last summer I took a black/white maxi skirt on several trips, and I loved wearing it.

Thanks for sharing some of your trip with us!

  4. Your photos of Rome evoke memories of my trip there years ago...such a beautiful city. Flats are essential when sight seeing, otherwise the next day is a write-off. Lovely to see you with your husband. (what Italian style!) x

  5. Beautiful photos! Rome is on my list of places I want to see. Poor Grillo, I bet he slept well after all of that walking (and carrying)!

    1. Luckily Grillo is a young boy! Of course he had extra food in the evening and ... a comfortable bed!
If you ever plan a journey to Italy you should absolutety include a visit to Rome...

  6. What a lovely time!! It's amazing how touring around can be so exhausting!!
I think I need to move to Italy because look at the difference of how fabulous you dress compared to the "trend" of jeans & t-shirt that we are focusing on today!! I like your way so much better!!

I am afraid that elegance is not very common here anymore either ... what a pity!!

  8. Much to my shame, I must admit I've never been to Rome. What an amazing city! Lovely to see a photo of you with your husband. You're quite a stylish couple. It seems that you have packing for a city trip down to a tee. I am usually quite rubbish at packing, and end up taking far too much, and having to carry a heavy suitcase! xxx

    1. You should definitely plan a journey to the "eternal city"! I have been there several times and always spent unforgettable days ...
Heavy suitcases are not for me and I try to pack items that can match each other...

I wasn'the sure , but in the end I decided to share the photo of my family...

I packed simple clothes that I was sure would have been comfortable . I always prefer a lightweight luggage!!

  11. I so enjoyed your tour of beautiful Rome , it brings back memories of my visit there way back in 1975, it must be time to visit again. Your long skirt , tee and flats are the perfect travel wear , practical and still elegant. Travelling light really is the only way to travel. I loved the shot of three weary travellers.

    1. Yes, you should visit Rome again in the future . Probably you would see a different city, but beautiful.
As far as I'm concerned...I would love to go there again soon... of course, I would travel light since, definitely for me too, it is the only way to travel!! :-)

  12. Your photos brought back some wonderful memories of a couple of trips to Rome several years ago. I agree with you that we should all try to visit Rome at least once to personally view the treasures there. It is an amazing city and so much fun to navigate. You, your husband and Grillo look tired but very happy with the day's outing.

  14. I think this is the first time V is in a post. Am I right? It is lovely to see him. Tell him to say "cheese" next time his photo is taken haha. He has such a nice smile.
You are very sensible in packing and I know you pack very very very very light (I remember that pink Armani bag).
When I went to London I managed to take only handluggage with me. Because the price for a normal suitcase was ridiculous (92 English pounds!). I managed and was proud of myself.
    Poor Grillo looks exhausted.
I can see you are having a wonderful time. Rome is such a lovely place to be. It made me smile that you went to all the touristy places.

    1. Next to those famous places there are hidden corners and many unknown shops that I love!
I took the photos for the blog in the places where my readers could have been, but Vincenzo ( husband ) of course guided me through the whole city...
You are right! This is the first time he is in a post...I will tell him to smile more often!!

Did you take only handluggage in London?? I am very proud of you too!! :-)
