Orta

Where to spend a long summer weekend for a change?

I decided to visit Orta lake
( North West of Italy, less than a couple of hours by car from where I live )

I had never been there...

...and so I booked a room

In the lovely city of Orta ( of course! )

Then I had to choose what to wear there.
( difficult task when you don't want to carry a heavy  luggage! )

Mistaking the outfit  means feeling uncomfortable for the whole staying
and having no alternative.

The most important part of the luggage (for a lady) regards the shoes...
Because the wrong choice can ruin the journey!

At home I had  thought that a pair of platform sandals would have gone OK: not too high, very soft leather,
nice with my long, cream-coloured skirt ( Liviana Conti  )

The place was charming!

( stay tuned if you want to know about my sandals...)

  2. What an enjoyable trip, Dan!!
And I agree that the shoes make all the difference. But there have been times that I've had to buy new shoes because what I brought didn't work---I didn't consider that a bad thing. But I never heard the end of it, from my hubby...ha ha!!

    1. Choosing the right pair of shoes for a holiday seems to be a very hard task for women ... (and very hard for men to be understood !!)

  3. Of course you manage to look fantastic while I looked "traditional" in my cream skirt with ballerinas and colourful shirt. How do you do it? Lovely outfit with your special bag.
Orta... I know Orta. I have spent a holiday there with Ron a couple of years ago. A friend of ours rents out his holiday home in Orta. Right on the lake. Pretty town, pretty area.

    1. It looks like a simple outfit but at a closer sight the skirt shows several cuts in the fabric which probably give a modern look, besides it is very long and that is why it is OK with flat shoes. Sometimes little details make a big difference...

(Liviana Conti is one of my favourite brands)

  4. Orta looks stunning! I love to see these places in Italy that are unknown to me. Your outfit is classic and elegant and your sandals are fabulous...I'm wondering if you've customized them yourself? I'm just deciding what to wear to travel to France...the weather is unsettled so I think it will be layers.

    1. My sandals have some white flowers on a side...probably the reason why I decided to buy them...

Layers is always the best decision when the weather is unsettled !
I loved the small city of Orta. I surely will visit it again in the future...

  5. I'd never heard of Orta, but what a stunning place! Just like Fiona, I'm wondering if perhaps you customized the sandals? Either way, they are looking great, and comfortable too. I definitely think you chose the right outfit for your trip! xxx

    1. I often customize my stuff, but I didn't in this case...my sandals were born with those flowers on!

Orta is a small lake next to the more famous and bigger Maggiore lake and Orta is also the name of a nice small city on the shores of the lake...

  8. Orta looks lovely - like a great place to relax and recharge. I love your cream-colored skirt and black top. Pretty sandals, too!

I packed a very successful travel wardrobe last summer for our 3.5-week trip to Germany. But this year, when we went the beach for a week, I did a terrible job packing and was uncomfortable/not happy with what I was wearing most of time. Not good...

    1. I took the habit of packing up lightweight because I preferred having my luggage with me on board a plane.
Besides, I find it very annoying unpack my luggage when I go back!!
