End of August

I don't know if the same happens to you, but I am always a bit melancholic at the end of August

Things I have seen  so many times seem different

and I don't feel anymore that sort of joy and lightness I used to feel in Spring.

The light and the heat are slowly changing...

A new pair of sandals ( it was a real bargain, and I have completely ruined my old ones! ) can't solve, but probably  helps my mood

( better this way )

a blue dress with a flat bow, that I only wear when I am on holiday

my white Furla bag which you already know...

...my dear friends, I have the feeling that this summer is passing too fast...

  1. The feeling that the summer is over, sad to most, because it all comes back to the routine. They're pretty in this post, your hairstyle looks beautiful, and your dress is so cute. I love the color and simplicity of design. I like the pattern shaped neckline and highlight your silhouette. Why only use it on holiday? I think it's very elegant.

    1. Yes, probably the real problem is to come back to the routine. . .
I don't feel at ease with a dress that leaves the shoulders bare!!

  3. Dan, melancholy affects us all at the end of August.
It is the lack of light combined with the drop in temperature.
Your remedy to combat sadness I may look better.
The dress is gorgeous and you are great sandals.
You look very pretty and favored holiday suit you.

  5. Ah yes, the sunlight is changing here too. It does feel sad in some ways but I do love fall. Pretty dress and sandals. That's something I miss in winter, sandals. Love your new white bag with this dress and Josep is right your hair looks beautiful. Looks just right with the feminine details of this dress. Lovely pictures especially by the blue door and pink wall. Great post!

  7. I love the dress! Very cute, enjoy it while you can.

It has been hot here this week, but in a few days the weather is supposed to change drastically. It's like Mother Nature knows we are flipping the calendar page.

  9. I know exactly what you mean about feeling the melancholy over losing the summertime. I'm feeling that dread in the pit of my stomach already as I can feel fall quickly approaching. I know I only have a couple more weeks to enjoy the warmth that I'm feeling today. But I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me...even in the cooler temps of fall. I am trying to be positive.
You look lovely as always, Dan. I love your new shoes. Yes! New shoes can be a mood lifter! haha

  10. I definitely feel that way about the end of August as well. Perhaps not as much as when I was a child/teenager, but there's still such a distinct sense that the seasons are changing and the knowledge that summer won't appear again for so long that one can't help but feel reflective and a little melancholy about the final moments of this beautiful month.

Thankfully though, it leads to the gorgeous season that is autumn, so it isn't all bad that it's ending.

Wishing you a stellar weekend and start of September, dear Dan!

  12. I agree, the summer is leaving us too soon. It started in July in Holland, which is only two months ago. Sigh.
And I think it is a shame that you only wear this lovely dress during holiday. Such a pretty dress!!! Looking very good. Nice new shoes, and of course THE bag.
Just a lovely gold necklace. My compliments.
Question: how tall are you? I am 5 ft 74 (1m75). Just curious. I am a nosy soul.

  13. Your summer is vey short! When I watch your posts, I always look if you are wearing a jacket or a sweater and have an idea about the weather in The Netherlands!!

I like that dress but I am ashamed to have bare shoulders, and, at last, I am a little shorter than you, about 1,74. . .

    1. Please enjoy your shoulders while you can. Please, please.
My arms have gone so wrinkly... it makes me look 80 years old. So I cannot wear bare arms anymore. Still can do bare shoulders and back though. What can be wrong about shoulders? You look as if you have perfect shoulders. Don't be silly.
And the weather in The Netherlands is usually not too hot, not too cold. Summer can start in April (we have had 20 degrees in March and in April, but that is an exception). Usually it starts getting warmer in May and summer can continue to October. At the moment is is beautiful hot weather here. No idea how long is will last. But it started exceptionally late.

    2. I have never considered that my shoulders will change. . .(and of course they will ).
Luckily, I don't like very much standard beauty!

And about the weather. . .I had always thought The Netherlands had a short summer!
