A summer project

Summer is the season in which I realize most of my stuff.
Mainly, for two reasons: the long days off work and my staying  in the Ligurian hinterland.

Plus, the other day, surfing in the net, I came across Antonello Tedde's luxury bags
( hand-woven for holidays, perfect for sea resort, chic anytime! )

Well, it was a flash! I wanted something of the kind...

a huge, cotton bag for the beach!

In a few days it was sewed and ready!!
( not really ready, as you can see, many flowers haven't got the central part yet... )

Ready or not, I couldn't wait to start using it ( will have plenty of time to finish it in the next days )

By the way, loose Liviana Conti dress for me today ...

matched to my new beach bag of course!

Now I can fully enjoy my holidays, at least ... until my next project!!!

  3. Oh... holiday... so nice... I envy you. Have a lovely time my dear. Making all those new and lovely necklaces as the one you are wearing today. And that bag is adorable. I knew you are very creative with beads but I did not know you can also sew. And embroider. A woman with many talents as Jodie said.

    1. I can only sew very simple things. For the bag I just folded a small cotton rug, then added the trimmings with tassels, the handles and some details of chocheting...a very easy project ! ( You know I have a lot of spare time in summer and here there are so few occasions of doing some shopping!! )

    2. Did you sew the bag at home? Or at your holiday home? Or do you have a sewing machine in both places?

    3. I have only a small sewing machine ( at home ), which proves I don't often sew... but, since the rug was very thick, I mostly sewed it by hand with a long needle for mattress...it has been a hard job, but I absolutely wanted to make my beach bag! Sometimes I am soooo stubborn... :-)

  4. Beautiful, I like your version better than your inspiration! And it's so fun to make something like that because you can customize it the way you want it. I hope you are enjoying your holiday.

    1. Thanks, Jessica! As you can see, the dress has got a big neckline : this is the reason why I made a necklace to pair...

  11. dan, all I can say is WOW! This bag is incredible and I'm so impressed that you undertook such a project. I love the fabric and the ball fringe trim, but I especially like the detailed trim on the side seams. I think it's wonderful that you didn't stress about taking it out and about even though you don't think you are 100% finished with the embellishments. That's a sign of real confidence. Did you create the pattern or did you follow a set of instructions. I really love it! Hugs, Dana
