Turin and the Fiat

Are you fond of cars? I am not, unless I have a sentimental reason.
Last Sunday I went to the Mirafiori district of Turin to visit the Motor Village.

It is a Fiat showroom opened a few years ago.
I don't want to change my car at the moment but I had a certain interest in the place and besides, I thought to take photos there.

It is a beautiful, contemporary place full of photos of important events for the brand  and of cars ( Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, of course! )

There are funny drawings of the 500 car, a store where they sell advertising items and a delightful caffetteria with dehor.

Turin has always been, above all, the city of Fiat ( established here
in 1916 ) and of its owners: Agnelli family.
and the showroom takes place in a part of the old industrial factory.
from there my interest in the place

The weather was nice but not too hot and I could wear a long sleeve viscose dress.
( look carefully at the first photo: it has strategically placed colours for a thinner look!)

I had my white bag with me.

The story of Fiat is strictly linked to the story of the city and in some ways, to my
life ...

  2. I am not really into cars, but those photos are great. I also learned something as I didn't know Turin was the city of Fiat! We have a Fiat showroom at the end of our street, isn't that funny? I love the dress you are wearing. xxx

  3. I'm not a car girl either, but if it's part of your upbringing, I could see how it'd be of interest!
    Your dress is wonderful!!
I'm surprised they allow dogs in the showroom---or did you get special priveleges?

    1. I asked if I could bring with me my dog in my arms and a smiling girl said that there were no reasons for keeping him in my arms... in the showroom there were no restrictions...that is what I call a charming place!

  4. I am a bit of a car girl and fortunately I chose the right car (Alpha Romeo MiTo) haha.
You told me the story. Looks like a nice place. Clever to take photos there: light and dry. Your dress is gorgeous. I would have bought it too. Just think if I stood next to you wearing my yellow/black/white dress !!

    2. I forgot...yes, Mi stands for Mirafiori and To stands for Torino (which in English is Turin)!

  6. A mystery then, I wonder at the connection, but I love the car, and your outfit is fabulous. Racing stripes are such fun! Love the photo of you sitting down and in reflection, square seats before you and behind!
    Great shoot!

  7. Not really a mistery, but many facts and events ...for istance, I remember when in the 80s the worker went on strike for about a month and I heard the news on tv in the evening or when Mr. Giovanni Agnelli was partecipating in some event ... he was an icon of style and elegance ...

The place turned out to be very nice in photos!!

  9. A very interesting post my dear Dan! You look beautiful in your color blocked dress. I like the photo with your purse and one of your shoes, so artistic!

We had a FIAT in the 70s. I liked that little red car. Fabbrica Italiana Automobile Torino. I know a little about cars because my boys and my daughter have always taken interest in them. I even have a miniature toy car collection.

I enjoy going to car shows and have shown a few on my blog (take a peek on my link). I still have photos to post from the Porsche and Mercedes and BMW museums when I visited Germany. We went to a classic car show on the weekend and I will include a photo in an upcoming post.

  11. Great photos, so creative! I love the dress too, I've noticed quite a few in that style lately where colors are strategically placed to create various optical illusions. I never realized that Fiat started in Turin!
