Talking about long skirts

Long skirts are not easy to style  for me.
Not only because  in winter they overpass the coats,

But also because at a certain age you risk to have a too old style .

In my opinion short jumpsuits often work with long skirts and add a modern touch to the ensemble.
( As well as a pair of  mid-leg brown boots)

As I wanted a classic look but  not  too classic, I tried a blue top with silver-coloured  polka dots

and  a lovely bow at the back !

( crystal jewelry )

And here, the look with the skirt overpassing my coat.
An assistant at my favourite shop said that short coats are made for being overpassed ...
In any case, either you like it or not,  please, note how my outfit perfectly  matches  my dog's!!

I swear,  it wasn't my intention...    :-)

Any other ideas about how to style a long skirt??

  1. Don't worry about your skirt hanging down beneath your coat Dan, unless you have a coat for every outfit how can you avoid this? I know what you mean about risking old lady style (you definitely don't look like an old lady!) but boots help to avoid this and I wear crazy colour opaque tights too.
Love the tie bow detail on your top. I don't think your dog is impressed with posing, he's showing us his backside in one photo! Hah! Stay warm. x

    1. Thanks Fiona! The risk of looking an old lady is always behind the corner at a certain age.
About my dog: I couldn't convince him to smile at the camera! He is a spiteful guy... :-)

  4. What a fab jumper you're wearing, and it goes really well with the skirt, which in its turn looks great peeping from under your matching coat. It really works, but all depends on the kind of skirt, I guess. No fear of looking old, Dan! So sweet that you and your cute dog are wearing matching coats! xxx

  6. I really like the skirt on you Dan and yes the spotty shorter knit makes it anything but old lady. So clever of you to wear matching coats. I rather like the shorter coat over the skirt.

  10. This is a feminine skirt with a slight flare and the top with large polka dots gives it a modern look. So cute how you two have matching coats. Perhaps you will start a new trend! :-)

  11. Any skirt with width looks better longer in my opinion as it lengthens your legs. Short and wide oh no! This hangs beautifully and looks great.
