I had planned to spend some days in Rome hence a fortnight ago I packed my things .
I don't like to carry big suitcases and so ...don't expect to see me wearing special clothes!
I chose one of my white bags
a long dark skirt and a Linen t-shirt with flats
( I packed long skirts because they don't require tights and flats because they are the best shoes with very long skirts ).
I went through the wonderful city
In which I used to go often many years ago.
There, I have been living the love story with the man who is my husband now .
Bernini's fountain ( la barcaccia)
The journey brought to mind a lot of happy memories....
And I have been walking for many hours a day !
( as you can see too many for my small dog)
Rome is a fantastic city and not only for its beauty. There is something so special in it!
When you are really tired there is a magic place where to have some rest : Trinita' Dei Monti
and we three were sooooo tired!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos Dan. Rome is a place that I haven't been to. I think you was right to wear flat shoes, looks like you covered a lot of ground.ReplyDelete
Yes,I did! I know for sure that in only one day I have been walking for 15 km!!Delete
Looks & sounds like a wonderful trip! Visiting Rome has been on my travel list for a long time...ReplyDelete
I love your travel outfit! Last summer I took a black/white maxi skirt on several trips, and I loved wearing it.
Thanks for sharing some of your trip with us!

Rome deserves to be visited at least once. It has got a huge number of stunning places and monuments ...I have been there many times now but the city keeps on to surprise me!Delete
A beautiful photos of Rome, and a look that I like very much. The skirt is very pretty.ReplyDelete
I think that the beauty of the city outgo the beauty of the photos that i tookDelete
Your photos of Rome evoke memories of my trip there years ago...such a beautiful city. Flats are essential when sight seeing, otherwise the next day is a write-off. Lovely to see you with your husband. (what Italian style!) xReplyDelete
This is the only post with a photo of my family ( which means Husband, dog and me ). my husband was born in a city nextby and spent his youth in Rome, hence I thought that he should be in the post ... yes, I think he has what you call...Italian style...Delete
Beautiful photos! Rome is on my list of places I want to see. Poor Grillo, I bet he slept well after all of that walking (and carrying)!ReplyDelete
Luckily Grillo is a young boy! Of course he had extra food in the evening and ... a comfortable bed!Delete
If you ever plan a journey to Italy you should absolutety include a visit to Rome...
What a lovely time!! It's amazing how touring around can be so exhausting!!ReplyDelete
I think I need to move to Italy because look at the difference of how fabulous you dress compared to the "trend" of jeans & t-shirt that we are focusing on today!! I like your way so much better!!
We had a lovely time but the days went by so quickly!!!Delete
I am afraid that elegance is not very common here anymore either ... what a pity!!
Oooh...we loved Rome so much when we visited last October! Thanks for bringing me back there Dan. Lovely to see the happy family of three!ReplyDelete
October is a perfect time for visiting the city, as well as the spring months...Delete
I am sure that you visited most of the places of my post!
Much to my shame, I must admit I've never been to Rome. What an amazing city! Lovely to see a photo of you with your husband. You're quite a stylish couple. It seems that you have packing for a city trip down to a tee. I am usually quite rubbish at packing, and end up taking far too much, and having to carry a heavy suitcase! xxxReplyDelete
You should definitely plan a journey to the "eternal city"! I have been there several times and always spent unforgettable days ...Delete
Heavy suitcases are not for me and I try to pack items that can match each other...
this post is so lovely and the pics are so mesmerizing..ReplyDelete
I am glad that you like...Delete
How beautiful you look amongst the fountains in this glorious and historical city! I love the long skirt and solid tee, very shimple, but chic too. I also traveled wearing long skirts, it is so comfy to travel like this, and you are a cute couple too!ReplyDelete
Many thanks, Elle!Delete
I wasn'the sure , but in the end I decided to share the photo of my family...
I packed simple clothes that I was sure would have been comfortable . I always prefer a lightweight luggage!!
I so enjoyed your tour of beautiful Rome , it brings back memories of my visit there way back in 1975, it must be time to visit again. Your long skirt , tee and flats are the perfect travel wear , practical and still elegant. Travelling light really is the only way to travel. I loved the shot of three weary travellers.ReplyDelete
Yes, you should visit Rome again in the future . Probably you would see a different city, but beautiful.Delete
As far as I'm concerned...I would love to go there again soon... of course, I would travel light since, definitely for me too, it is the only way to travel!! :-)
Your photos brought back some wonderful memories of a couple of trips to Rome several years ago. I agree with you that we should all try to visit Rome at least once to personally view the treasures there. It is an amazing city and so much fun to navigate. You, your husband and Grillo look tired but very happy with the day's outing.ReplyDelete
We spent wonderful days in Rome. Of course we tried to visit as much as possible and at the end we were exhausted! (My husband also held Grillo in his arms most of the time ...)Delete
Wonderful photos - and you look great in blue!ReplyDelete
Many thanks Rebecca!Delete
I think this is the first time V is in a post. Am I right? It is lovely to see him. Tell him to say "cheese" next time his photo is taken haha. He has such a nice smile.ReplyDelete
You are very sensible in packing and I know you pack very very very very light (I remember that pink Armani bag).
When I went to London I managed to take only handluggage with me. Because the price for a normal suitcase was ridiculous (92 English pounds!). I managed and was proud of myself.
Poor Grillo looks exhausted.
I can see you are having a wonderful time. Rome is such a lovely place to be. It made me smile that you went to all the touristy places.
Next to those famous places there are hidden corners and many unknown shops that I love!Delete
I took the photos for the blog in the places where my readers could have been, but Vincenzo ( husband ) of course guided me through the whole city...
You are right! This is the first time he is in a post...I will tell him to smile more often!!
Did you take only handluggage in London?? I am very proud of you too!! :-)
I was very proud of myself and my hand luggage too haha.Delete
Thanks for a lovely trip around Rome. You and your husband make a very stylish sightseeing pair.ReplyDelete
Thanks for your kind comment!ReplyDelete
Beautiful pictures of this wonderful city, Dan! You look fabulous in your comfy travelling dress. It's great style.ReplyDelete
Thanks Sabine. I really love Rome! I should visit it more often...Delete
I love your long skirt for travel!ReplyDelete
So good looking your husband, beautiful you,
and cute dog in that photo is like one romantic scene of Italian film!
