Are you wondering if I left the Eternal City without doing a bit of shopping?
Well, the answer is no ...
But you will probably be surprised to read what my purchases were!
Here you see St. Peter cathedral in Vaticano.
I went there because I had in mind a very special kind of shopping
( even though the beauty of the place would have deserved a visit in any case)
I bought a Sacred Heart ...
... And a small gypsum angel!!
Why?
Well, many of you know that I like making my jewelry
( These coral earrings are the ones which I had prepared for my journey to Rome )
At the moment I am trying something like the DG 2014 jewelry collection...
Of course I am not sure at all about what is going out of my Sacred Heart and my small gypsum angel, but I can predict...a lot of fun!!
( I always have fun when making my stuff )
Finally, talking about jewelry, this is what my husband bought me.
The silver ring ( Gerardo Sacco ) is part of a set of 12 , called " The Months" .
In each one, the face of a woman has been matched to a fruit or an element which represents the month ( the golden part )
Mine is November and it reproduces the pomegranate fruit.
Here it is how it looks on my hand.
It will remind me my Roman holiday...
Of course I never thought you'd leave Rome empty handed, Dan, and I am looking forward to seeing how you will incorporate your buys in your handmade jewellery. I was dying to know what your husband had bought you, and the ring is just gorgeous! I like buying little things to remind me of my holidays too! xxx
ReplyDeleteHa ha... I think I never left a place empty handed even though this time my purchases were a bit...unusual!! :-)
DeleteI thought it most unlikely that you wouldn't be shopping for something or other. Can't wait to see your D&G-esque earrings. Lovely to have a keepsake of your Roman Holiday, your ring is fab. Xx
ReplyDeleteProbably it will take me quite a time for how to make something sensible...I will let you know!
DeleteYour talent in making beautiful jewelry never ceases to amaze me! I love the white coral earrings and look forward to seeing how you create unique jewelry with your new finds.
ReplyDeleteThose earrings are probably among my best ones ... I love coral!
DeleteWhat am interesting and original ring that is! Have to check out what mine would be. And I am very curious about what you will make of your purchases!
ReplyDeleteTo tell the truth...I am very curious about that too!!!
DeleteOooh, so excited to see what you make Dan! I remember a shop on the Vatican square that had all sorts of beautiful treasures.
ReplyDeleteI had been visiting many of them before I found my favourite Sacred Heart and angel! ...not really sure about what will come out of them!!
DeleteWhat fun purchases, Dan!! I can't wait to see what you create, because you are so talented!!

Yes, I admit that...it was the oddest shopping I have ever done!!
DeleteI love the details. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks!
DeleteWhat a good idea, taking inspiring jewellery ideas and making them your own. And my birthday is in November too so it's fun to see what my ring looks like, so pretty, lucky you!
ReplyDelete...a relaxing way to spend my spare time...
DeleteLove the items you picked up, especially the Sacred Heart. I can see that being turned into a fantastic necklace with some special beads and perhaps a ribbon? The ring is lovely too. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI thought either of a necklace or a big earring . You have just suggested me some very inspiring ideas, Flo!
DeleteNo surprise that you didn't come home empty handed Dan.I so admire your jewellery making talent and will be keen to see how you include your buys. Your ring was very interesting , I too am November so it was interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteI feel that this time it will take me a longer time to make my jewelry. It's a sort of ... challenge!!
DeleteI love the ring so much, and the angel and those coral earrings. Yes, I think I WAS wondering if you made any purchases and you did. I also love your DG inspiration and think you did well! Great taste!

The ring looks even better in real because I wasn't able to include in the photo the golden pomegranate fruit ... it's a little work of art!
DeleteBeautiful gift from your husband. And I know you'll have lots of fun with the items you bought and turn them in great jewelry.

Thanks for your words Andrea, they sound supporting ! To tell the truth, I am not so sure about the good results!!
DeleteDarling Dan, everything you are showing us is sooo beautiful. The ring V gave you, the coral earrings you made yourself (breathtaking and sooo unique). I love your plans to create some earrings with the angel and the heart. I bet yours will be even better than D&G. Personally it is a bit too baroque for me, but I can appreciate the beauty of the style.

D&G get inspired by Mediterranean traditions and then overcharge the jewelry of symbolic details ... the more I visit Italy the more I realise that they reproduce its cotraddictions . I am very interested in their style at the moment
DeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice blog!
Would you like to follow each other? Let me know on my blog with a comment! ;oD

The ring is a little treasure that we discovered in a small shop...
DeleteThe ring from your husband is so great and lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd your angel is so cute!!
I remember DG collection, and I love those earrings, too.
I tried them at a shop in Tokyo, but angels stood on my shoulders because of my short neck...
