Last time, my very affectionate friend Flo, commenting on my post said that she didn't feel steady on high heels anymore
Reflecting on her words I had to admit that I have been sharing the same feeling recently...
:-(
A quickly glance into my closet ( which really includes everything)
Provided a solution that I considered a compromise between ( beloved ) high heels and ( cute) flat shoes ...
A pair of platform sandals! ( old, already posted last year)
Wise girls have to accept compromises, right?
Do you feel the same or have different solutions?
Platform shoes and long dresses seem to work well .
Here the summer heat has arrived in advance this year and we are enjoying ( suffering ) temperatures over 30 degrees.
Hence I made up my mind for white colour ...
... and coral jewelry.
( A touch of ochre colour for my bronze bag today).
I am surely feeling more comfortable on platforms but ... am I steadier too??
I will tell you.
In the meantime ...
... Have a smiling week!
It has been hot in the UK as well - followed by thunderstorms!
ReplyDeleteI love your cool white outfit and must admit I prefer flat sandals.
Your dog seems to be enjoying himself!
There are delightful flat sandals around ! They represent a good alternative ...
DeleteIt's been (too) hot in Belgium too for the last couple of days. I've never felt 100% comfortable walking on heels, unless they are chunky and not too high, and of course wedges/platforms are a great compromise and stylish too. I love the colour of yours which pairs well with the cool-looking (in both senses of the word) white dress! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou never go wrong with a white dress when it's very hot!!
DeleteI am totally unsteady on heels but wedges and mid bock heels are fine. I love your white outfit! Very chic! Gail x
ReplyDeleteI like block heels too! I think they are my favourite ...
DeleteI was getting out of the habit of wearing my heels for awhile, but I've found that practice makes me feel steadier!! Of course, for longer walking days, I do love my platforms! It makes me think that having many different options is the smart thing!!
ReplyDeleteLove your orange shoes, Dan!! That's my way to wear a white dress---add in the color!

Yes, if you usually wear high heels at the end you feel that they are comfortable ... in any case ... better to keep something as an alternative!!
DeleteGorgeous! You look lovely dear!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks!
DeleteI never wear heels anymore, but I love wedges! They give you the feeling you are wearing heels, only steadier! You look fantastic in white, as always very elegant.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy! There are delightful wedges this year in Turin ... a real temptation for updating my style!!
DeleteI'm no good in heels anymore, they hurt like hell so 'flatforms' are the way to go! Yours look gorgeous with your lovely bronzed limbs. Xx
ReplyDeleteHurray for wedges : so comfortable and fashionable!! :-)
DeleteI'm no good in heels anymore, they hurt like hell so 'flatforms' are the way to go! Yours look gorgeous with your lovely bronzed limbs. Xx
ReplyDeleteAll the women should own at least a pair of wedges. Of course for being on the safe side ... better if they have more than only one!! :-)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous dress!!! I bet it is Sportmax. The belt reminds me of my red dress. You look soooo elegant. The shoes are very good with this outfits. As is your coral jewellery. You are a stunning appearance again. With a smiling dog haha.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Yes, probably my dress is Sportmax...as you know, I can never be sure! As you can see in my recent posts, I have been preferring long clothes recently ...
DeleteGrillo is an odd guy...it has often human expressions!
I love your white dress! The platform sandals look great with it! You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI have never been able to wear high heels as I very badly injured my ankle when I was young and it never completely healed. I can wear some wedges and platforms but not for very long...
Have a great week & stay cool!

High temperatures have come too early this year here. I would have preferred a milder springtime...never mind! The positive side is that I sometimes enjoy a weekend at the seaside!
DeleteI can't say that I feel less steady on high heels but I definitely get tired sooner than I used to. I find platform shoes very comfortable and have quite a lot in my wardrobe. Yours are very pretty, love the colour!
ReplyDeleteI remember your (many) platform sandals. They match very nicely to all your outfits !
DeleteLoving this post Dan, i can so relate!
ReplyDeleteI also wear platforms, and -or chunky heels and i feel steadier with those.
Before i was diagnosed and treated for my auto-immune disease, i was instead. Now I am fine.
But we all should be careful, anyway !
In New York, the pavement is so uneven, I am sure you have that there, too.
Love the all white outfit, a quintessential summer look, perfect from head to toe!
The platforms that I wore this weekend were the same color!
I love your necklace Dan, and am always o glad to read a new post!

You said something very cute so, thanks Elle! The pavement is often really uneven here too ... there are risks everywhere in the city!!! ( and you have to be super-careful )
DeleteIs this a dress or a skirt and blouse? Where did you find it? You look stunning in it. I love how you paired it with colorful platform sandals and how you tied it together with the jewelry. Are the necklace and earrings your creations? Lovely! It's hard to appear elegant in sweltering heat, but you have succeeded.
ReplyDeleteSorry for my late answer Christine and thanks for your comment!
DeleteI am wearing a dress, which looks like a skirt and a blouse and yes, I made myself the jewelry. I am glad that you like!!
Firstly Dan, you look wonderful in your all white with the coral sandals and necklace. I have always been a fan of wedges , especially for Summer , they are so comfortable but still make me a little taller. Enjoy your Summer sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI have seen somewhere nice outfits with wedges and thick tights worn in the cold season ... I have to keep it in mind for next year!!! :-)
DeleteThose platform shoes are so beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteWhen I wear high heels for just only 5 minutes, my legs are so pain...

High heels are beautiful but...not really comfortable!!
DeleteDan you look so lovely in this white summer dress. I'm with you on the need for compromise by wearing wedge sandals - I've done the same on my blog today.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great week x
Anna
Very good decision, Anna!
Delete(I am going to take a look...)
I am a fan of accessorising white with red or in this case, coral. I love the necklace. I have a fear of heels as I get older so I tend to cling to hubby's arm when wearing them. Love your coral wedges! I am so thankful that when I wore platforms in the 70s I never did myself an injury!
ReplyDeleteAn important lesson I learned from you very quickly when I discovered your blog was that "shoes maketh the outfit", so thankful to have learned that from a very stylish lady.
Very nice comment!
DeleteYes,in my opinion details make the outfit. The right accessories can change the look and especially shoes... I have so many of them!
Aww, love the smailing pic of the pup Dan! Your white shiftdress is so pretty, I love a structured look and love the bright coral of those lovely shoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking!

My dog is a funny guy, isn't he? :-)
DeleteI love the beautiful white dress which you have accessorized so wonderfully with my favorite summer color, coral. I must say, however that the photo of your dog's smile is the most beautiful of all!
ReplyDeleteWearing coral jewelry in summer is a must! It's such a perfect colour and ...it goes nicely to a tanned skin!
DeleteI couldn't avoid sharing my dog's smiling muzzle!! :-)
What a great solution, I'll be curious to see how it goes after you've tried it for a while. I really do miss wearing heels, I was very used to wearing them, but after I broke my ankle (and tore the ligament in the process) I never felt secure in them anymore. Sometimes we suffer for fashion, but I wasn't willing to risk breaking my neck!
