I tried to brighten up my mood with a very red lipstick
And warm my heart with Christmas decorations
But my home remained terribly empty
So, when a volunteer of the local shelter asked me is I had any room for a two years old guy which had already been abandoned twice ...
... I said YES!
And then this little being arrived.
Once again I felt that love warms more than a thousand fires ...
and named him Grillo (which is the Italian word for cricket ) ...
Welcome, welcome little Grillo! It's not about filling Mr. Bangio's very big, and very lovable shoes; after all he was one of a kind as are you. It is about filling Dan's heart with unconditional love, and it looks like you've already achieved that.ReplyDelete
Many blessings Dan...to you and your little cricket! He has the most soulful eyes.
I have read your beautiful comment so many times, Sue! You have found the perfect, most sweet words ... many thanks!Delete
Oh sweet little Grillo. He is so lucky to have found you.ReplyDelete
... and I, to have his love!Delete
Oh, how sweet this little being is! I am glad you both found each other! Your home will not feel empty anymore when such a cutie waits you there.ReplyDelete
Grillo is a very sweet dog. He needed someone who took care of him and has filled my home with joy ...Delete
Your story (which is wonderful) reminded me of thisReplyDelete
It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. - Anonymous
This is an extraordinarily beautiful quote of a man ( or woman ) who well known and loved dogs ... thanks for sharing!Delete
Grillo is a real sweetie! We just adopted a sweet little kitten named Frankie. Isn't it amazing how much love pets can bring into your home?ReplyDelete
And fabulous outfit as well!
Oh yes, they really can bring joy! Your little Frankie is a lucky kitten!!Delete
I knew it. I knew it. You cannot live without a dog. Mr Bangio would be so pleased that you can feel the love of a dog again and that you can give a dog a warm and loving home again.ReplyDelete
I am so pleased for both you and Grillo. You have a lot to offer each other. Oh and your outfit is gorgeous too. What a pretty skirt. You would forget to mention this with so much joy in the air.Delete
I felt I was ready for a new friend and Grillo is very affectionate. He tries to attract my attention in funny ways and make me smile. In my heart there is room for him too ...Delete
About my outfit: I am sure that you can guess where my skirt comes from, don't you??
That is so nice about hearts... it can love so many and there is always room for more. And I know where your skirt is coming from LOL.Delete
Fantastic look dear! Kisses.ReplyDelete
Hi Maria! And many thanks ...Delete
Gorgeous look, Dan. I love your pleated and patterned skirt is cute. Greetings to the new partner, I'm sure you will do very happy.ReplyDelete
Thanks Josep. I think I have never had a pleated skirt before!Delete
Grillohas alreary caught the whole family's heart!
Isn't he cute?!?! I'm glad he has found a new home, so sad that he was having such a tough time of it. I totally hear you on the house feeling empty, my husband and I had similar issues when we had our golden retriever put down. It was the first time I hadn't had a pet since I was 16, a very strange feeling. Congrats to you both!ReplyDelete
He is super cute and very affectionate! The special love that a dog gives you is something I can't do without ... you can understand my feelings!Delete
U look just fabulous, the entire outfit is so fun and full of colors.ReplyDelete
It really is!!Delete
So pleased you and Grillo have found one another, a perfect match.Loosing a much loved dog leaves a big hole in our hearts, they are never forgotten or replaced but as I found out last year bringing a new dog into my life has bought so much joy.ReplyDelete
Every little friend I have had has got a special place in my heart . They have been very different from each other and very loved. Yes Jill, they bring much joy into our lives!!Delete
What a heart warming post!! You really know how to pull on the heart strings!! And Grillo is a lucky dog to have found you! And your outfit is absolutely lovely---so colorful!! jodieReplyDelete
I am glad, Jodie! I feel lucky to have Grillo with me ...Delete
How cute you look in this outfit. I really like the colourful pleated skirt and the belted cardi is a nice touch too. I wish I could wear bright lipstick with confidence - I think it maybe makes me look like a clown. Grillo looks like he could be a dog with a bit of mischief about him!ReplyDelete
Anna's Island Style
Hi, Ann! I am like you like.I am not used to wear pleated skirts, but I fell in love with this one!Delete
Grillo is a mischievous dog but I forgive him as often makes me laugh ...
Hi Dan, thank you for visiting my blog. If you follow this link you'll be able to read up about the island of Tresco where I live -Delete
See you soon.
Thank you very much to have given me the chance to see your wonderful part if the world ...Delete
Love the colors in your outfit and who could abandon animals> Now the little one has a great home, how cute is he!! Love the name!ReplyDelete
Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!
It sounds impossible, doesn't it? No dog would have done the same to his human friend ...Delete
See you next Tuesday!
I am so happy for you!ReplyDelete
Welcome to your new little friend! What a wonderful thing to do, and I expect you will both be better for it! I love your skirt Dan!ReplyDelete
My skirt is from the spring/summer collection, but with a warm cardigan and a pair of boots it can work also in the cold season!Delete
A dog means joy and love ... and I felt I was ready for a new friend ...
I knew it! You found another wonderful dog to love. I lost my cat after a short illness (12 years old) and was so blue, I couldn't wait to bring another kitty into my life. You look beautiful and I wish you many years of love with your new dog.ReplyDelete
Dear Rebecca, I am so glad that we share the same love for animals! My Grillo is about 2 years old but no one knows exactly ... in any case he looks young and very ... lively!!Delete
My dear Dan, Grillo is a little sweetie and suits his name "Cricket"! The best part of this story is that you rescued him! Being abandoned twice, he now has his forever home with you! I wish more people would adopt pets at their local shelter instead of buying a new puppy (which many come from horrible puppy mills where the mothers of the puppies suffer terrible lives--so sad.ReplyDelete
By the way, your outfit is gorgeous, I love the colour combination, perfect for a stylish lady--YOU!!!
I completely agree about adopting a dog, Carmen!Delete
There are so many unlucky little beings around ... and they all ask so little!
Aww....Ciao Grillo! Can never replace Mr Bangio, of course, but Grillo's adorable. Good on you dan :) On another note, I love your skirt! I love the colours, the length, and the pleats. Have a good weekend :)ReplyDelete
Hi! And thanks!!Delete
Obsessed with this! So cool!ReplyDelete
